It's a pleasure to highlight the release of a new Arsenal book that - hopefully - heralds an era of football publishing that will vastly improve the coverage of the history of Arsenal's women's team. Currently, my Arsenal library includes only one book that is focused upon Arsenal's women - 2012's 'Footballer' by Kelly Smith. The urgent imperative to undo such an egregious under-representation makes the publication of 'Lioness' all the more welcome.
Published by Seven Dials, 'Lioness' by Beth Mead features a foreword by Ian Wright.
While the book's title and timing - coming, as it does, hot-on-the-heels of England Women's golden summer of Euro glory - implies a focus upon Beth's progress through the national team's age groups to a Golden Boot and Player-of-the-Tournament prominence in the senior side, the book will surely feature many insights from her Arsenal career to date. Having joined in 2017, she has recently topped 100 WSL appearances for the club, having progressed to become one the side's leading contributors during our run to the WSL title in 2018-19.
Since that triumph, Beth has further elevated her game to become one of the best in the world. Her story is a fascinating addition to Arsenal history.

PUBLISHER'S DESCRIPTION
Beth Mead is one of the world’s most talented footballers – Golden Boot winner and Player of the Tournament at the UEFA Euro 2022, England Player of the Year 2021-22, Arsenal Player of the Season 2021-22, and nominee for the 2022 Ballon d’Or. But long before this, Beth was just an ordinary kid from Hinderwell, North Yorkshire who wanted to play football.

Now, Beth shares the challenges that shaped her, what she faced on the journey to the top, and the life events that made her stronger – from being dropped from the England squad and receiving devastating family news, to finding her best form under the guidance of Jonas Eidevall and Sarina Wiegman.
